Echoes of Niagara’s Past 2016: A military Timeline Event

Date: August 27 and 28 2016

Join us as Fort George National Historic Site and The Lincoln and Welland Regiment Museum commemorate over 200 years of Niagara’s shared military history. The fort will come alive as Interpreters, Animators and Veterans display uniforms, weaponry and vehicles from WWI, WWII up to present day.

Demonstrations will be happening throughout the day inside the imposing walls of Fort George and a parade celebrating our military heritage held both days through historic downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Saturday  August 27

10:00 AM Ft. George Opens to the Public

10:30 AM Flag Raising Ceremony

11:00 AM Grand Vehicle Parade through the Streets of Niagara on the Lake

11:00 AM Musket Demonstration

11:30 AM War of 1812 Fife and Drum Music Demonstration

11:45 AM Hands on History  (Public can fire a real musket/period firearm)

12:00 PM Artillery Firepower Demonstration

1:00 PM  ” The Dapper Warrior” 200 years of Military Fashion

1:30 PM War of 1812 Fife and Drum Music Demonstration

2:00 PM  “Citizen Soldiers” :of 1812 to WW2 tactical Demonstrations

3:00 PM War of 1812 Fife and Drum Music Demonstration

3:00 PM Hands on History  (Public can fire a real musket/period firearm)

3:30 PM “Riding into Battle” Military Vehicle Demonstration

Echoes of Niagara’s Past: Military Timeline Event 2014

Join us as Fort George National Historic Site and The Lincoln and Welland Regiment Museum commemorate over 200 years of Niagara’s military history. The fort will come alive as Interpreters, Animators and Veterans display uniforms, weaponry and vehicles from the War of 1812, WWI, WWII and many more. Join us as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the declaration of The Great War (World War I) when the grounds of Fort George were used to train Canadian Soldiers that were sent to Europe.

Demonstrations will be happening throughout the day inside the imposing walls of Fort George and a parade celebrating our military heritage held both days through historic downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake.
